Introduction
Education stands out as a defining trait in a person’s life. It’s not merely about writing answers on paper, but about the skills and knowledge an individual gains. Once a skill is obtained in a hands-on manner, it stays with the person for life-long, bringing in transformational changes. Emertxe is the ideal place to acquire these skills and knowledge, empowering individuals to take their next big step in their careers.
Emertxe has been a pioneer in embedded systems training courses, Linux, and IoT training in Bangalore since 2003. Our embedded training vertical has produced a vast pool of industry-ready embedded engineers. At Emertxe, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey. We also hold the belief that there’s no age or experience limit to learning. That’s why we offer upskilling courses for corporate organizations and working professionals. With over 60,000 graduates trained since our inception, Emertxe continues to lead the way in skill development.
Adding another feather to our cap, Emertxe is an affiliated Training Partner (TP) with the Skill India Program, a program launched by the Government of India. This initiative is implemented by the flagship organization – National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC Certification) by creating various Sector Skill Councils (SSC) and various programs under them. The Electronics Sector Skill Council (ESSCI) is primarily responsible for Electronics related skill-set development, under which Emertxe has aligned itself for offering certification programs.
Sounds interesting? Let’s delve deeper into what this affiliation means for Emertxe and our students.
What is Skill India?
In today’s knowledge-driven world, skill is the common denominator for success. However, skill levels vary from person to person. In a developing country like India, with a population exceeding 1.4 billion, skilled manpower can bring about transformational changes. To harness this potential, the Government of India launched the Skill India initiative, aiming to upskill Indian youth. India is on the brink of significant reforms and is poised to become the third-largest economy in the world by 2030.
Demographically, India is the youngest country, with 62% of the population in the working age group of 15-59 years and over 54% below 25 years of age. This is a rare phenomenon, which needs to be harnessed. In this regard, the Skill India Program aims to skill 40 crore people, thereby making India the talent capital of the world. To signify its importance, a new ministry titled Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is created to drive various initiatives.
What is NSDC?
To implement the charter of Skill India Program, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has been created and it oversees 39 sector skills councils ranging from Embedded Systems Training, Electronics to Hospitality. NSDC operates on a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model, collaborating with skill curriculum creators, training organizations, assessment agencies, and placement companies.
By fostering such synergy, NSDC drives skill development by establishing large-scale, quality vocational institutions. NSDC Certification also provides funding to organizations to create scalable manpower training institutes.
Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI)
The Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI) is a non-profit organization registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956. It is supported by six organizations— CEAMA, ELCINA, IESA, IPCA, MAIT, and ELCOMA—forming a consortium that represents the entire electronics ecosystem in India.
ESSCI’s financial backing comes from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The main vision of ESSCI is to develop a world-class electronics talent in India catering to the Electronics Design, Embedded Systems Training and Manufacturing (EDSM) industry in India by creating an ecosystem for skill development and enhancing the employability of the country’s vast human resource pool. ESSCI focuses on skilling individuals in the electronics domain. It offers various certification-based courses, from entry-level (Diploma / ITI holders) to expert-level (PhD holders), providing a structured and hierarchical learning pathway.
Emertxe and ESSCI
Emertxe is proud to be integrated with NSDC Certification and ESSCI as a Training Partner (TP). Our flagship programs, Emertxe Certified Embedded Professional (ECEP) and Emertxe Certified IoT Programmer (ECIP), are aligned with the following job roles specified by NSDC and ESSCI:
According to ESSCI’s framework, these are classified as Qualification Packs (QP). Both courses fall under level-5 in the QP hierarchy, targeting engineers (BE / BTech / ME /MTech) under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). Emertxe takes immense pride in being the first institute to achieve affiliation under level-5 among hundreds of other Training Partners. The diagram below illustrates the relationship between Emertxe and the Skill India Program.
Student Process for NSDC Certification
As part of our commitment to offering top-tier training, Emertxe’s Embedded Systems Training has outlined a straightforward process for students, including both current students and alumni, to achieve NSDC certification through ESSCI:
Eligibility to Apply: Any past student or alumni can apply for the certification. Current students who have completed the Micro-Controller (MC) module are also eligible to apply.
Apply via Internal Application Link: After completing your course, students need to apply for certification through the internal application link shared by Emertxe. This is because ESSCI expects our students to complete all the modules by spending the minimum required number of hours.
Evaluation Process: All applicants must appear for an assessment test conducted by NSDC/ESSCI. Our placement team will coordinate with ESSCI to schedule this evaluation process, typically on a Saturday, so it doesn’t affect with our student’s work schedule. The assessment will be conducted online and will cover topics in C and Micro-Controller (MC) programming. The process involves a written test followed by a viva. As long as you remember our course practicals, you can clear this exam.
Results & Certification: The ESSCI panel will consolidate the overall score for all our students who participated in the process and publish the results. The assessment will cover key skill areas:
ELE/N1501 Develop Embedded System Software
ELE/N9905 Work Effectively at the Workplace
ELE/N1002 Apply Health and Safety Practices at the Workplace
Our students came out with flying colors in these assessments, demonstrating exceptional skills and knowledge in all evaluated areas. This reflects the high quality of training and preparation they received.
The overall cut-off for passing is 80 out of 115 marks (70%). Upon clearing the overall cut-off, students will receive the ESSCI certificate signed by Skill India Program, NSDC Certification, ESSCI, and Emertxe’s Embedded Systems Training. If a student fails, they can reapply in the next window—keep an eye on announcements in our Google Group.
We will ensure that the hard copy of the certificates is sent to the students who successfully pass the certification, recognizing their accomplishments and the skills they have demonstrated. The certification exams are conducted regularly, schedule and logistics are communicated via our internal Google and WhatsApp groups.
How NSDC/ESSCI Affiliation Benefits Our Students?
Emertxe’s affiliation with NSDC/ESSCI offers numerous advantages to our students:
Certification: By aligning our courses with ESSCI, our students earn a government-recognized certification through Skill India Program. After completing our Embedded Course, an ESSCI assessment panel conducts a practical evaluation, leading to a level-5 certification. This certification opens up broader career opportunities, and we are proud to report that our students have achieved an almost 100% pass rate in ESSCI’s certification exams—further testament to our practical training approach.
Standardization: ESSCI’s curriculum is regularly updated to reflect industry needs, aligning perfectly with Emertxe’s Embedded Systems Training training philosophy. This ensures that our students are always learning from a standardized curriculum tailored to specific job roles, equipping them with industry-relevant skills.
Staying Ahead of the Technology Curve: As a training partner, Emertxe’s mentors actively contribute to ESSCI’s Subject Matter Expert Group, which designs futuristic courses requiring advanced skills. For example, Emertxe has significantly contributed to the design of Embedded Full-Stack IoT Analyst Course, with significant input from our mentors. Many elements of Emertxe’s Embedded IoT course are already incorporated into ESSCI’s curriculum. This expertise naturally trickles down to our students, ensuring they stay ahead in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
